“While new phones, tablets and other mobile devices are released every year, degrading battery life remains an enduring issue which often leaves those new devices hooked up to a charger” wrote Sarit Lachinsky, writer for LVP News.
In the world of high-powered fast chargers, the Battery Guard takes a different approach to solve this problem. The Battery Guard uses an experimentally-proven charging algorithm that gives your battery rest periods to minimize overheating while charging overnight - the crucial factor in battery degradation.
HOW IT WORKS
The Battery Guard consists of a hardware and app combo. Fitting between your standard charging brick and USB charging cable, the Battery Guard works seamlessly into your nightly routine. Before you plug in your phone for the night, simply use the app to connect to your Battery Guard via Bluetooth and set the time you'll be waking up in the morning, just like an alarm.
Overnight, the Battery Guard will do its magic to keep your battery cool and safe from the harmful temperatures that threaten its life. When you wake up, your phone will be at 100%, just like always. Except now, it gets there in a safer, battery-friendly way.
ECO-FRIENDLY
Extending smartphone lifespans not only eliminates low battery anxiety, which has become so widespread, but it also preserves the environment by reducing electronic waste. By allowing users to keep their phone for a longer period of time without worry of battery degradation, the Battery Guard keeps phones out of landfills.
TESTING
Preliminary lab testing has shown that charging your phone with the Battery Guard could cut the rate of battery decay in half, thereby doubling the lifespan of your phone.
WHAT BACKERS GET
The Battery Guard is available to purchase as either a USB-A or USB-C compatible version, and the app will be available for download on all iOS and Android devices shortly after launch.
The Battery Guard starts at just $15 for early bird backers.
Backers can visit the Kickstarter page now to learn more about the product and pre-order the Battery Guard.
